Why gums may bleed
Plaque around the gumline can trigger inflammation, making the gums tender or prone to bleeding. Hormonal changes, medicines and other health factors can also play a role.
Keep cleaning gently
Stopping brushing altogether can allow plaque to accumulate further. Continue with gentle, effective brushing and appropriate interdental cleaning while arranging professional advice.
When to book a hygiene assessment
Persistent bleeding, recession, swelling or loose teeth should be assessed. Your dentist or hygienist can explain whether you need preventive cleaning, gum treatment or a longer-term maintenance plan.
