What fluoride does
Fluoride helps enamel resist acid attack and supports remineralisation where early changes have occurred. Used appropriately, it is a valuable part of daily decay prevention.
Choosing suitable toothpaste
Your dentist can advise on fluoride strength according to age, decay risk and individual circumstances. Children need age-appropriate quantities and supervision.
Use it effectively
Brush twice daily, especially before bed, and spit out rather than immediately rinsing away toothpaste. Prescription-strength products should only be used when clinically recommended.
